ABOUT US

SGRR aims to help promote new approaches to the study of the Russian Revolution between the 1880s and 1932. From its foundation in the 1970s it has had two main activities:

  • an annual international conference, normally held over three days in early January

  • publications, notably the twice-yearly refereed journal Revolutionary Russia

Additionally, the SGRR sponsors panels at the annual BASEES conference, and has sponsored a number of document publications in Russia.

SGRR OFFICERS

The current committee consists of the Secretary, Dr Lara Douds (Northumbria University), and the Treasurer, Dr Katy Turton (University of the Highlands and Islands).

Secretary

Dr Lara Douds

Dr Douds is an Assistant Professor in Russian History at Northumbria University, Newcastle. She specialises in the history of government, political practice and political culture in Russia and the Soviet Union.

    Treasurer

    Dr Katy Turton

    Dr Turton is a University Teacher at the University of Highlands and Islands. Specialsing in European, Russian and Soviet history, with particular focus on women's experiences, she's also an author of many notable publications.
